In Feb 2010, I went online and found Worldwide Van Lines. They gave me a good quo so I decided to choose them. However, the move was absolutely horrible.
First, they said they would arrive on Saturday to move my furniture. I waited for them whole day. No one showed up, and I couldn't get hold of anyone. Finally, the next evening someone called and said they were on their way. It was 7 p.m. in Minneasota when it was snowing outside and dark. Can you believe how unorganized they are?? The movers stepped into my old apartment with their dirty shoes without taking them off, the entire carpet was ruined, and I had to pay for the former landlord to clean up the carpet. You would think that as professional movers they should know to take off their shoes.
The mover told me that my furniture would arrive in a week. So I arrived in NY ASAP and stayed in hotel waiting for my furniture. However, in reality the furniture didn't arrive until after 3 weeks. I couldn't afford to stay in hotel so I had to sleep on the floor for two weeks.
In addition, when they arrived with my furniture, they told me they needed to charge me extra fee for the stair fee. But I told them the agent had waived my stair fee in the initial quote. I had to negotiate with them back and forth between the agent and the movers in order to get my moving going.
When everything was finally done, I noticed some items were missing and broken. The mover gave me a cheap Walmart mirror that didn't belong to me. I told them I had an expensive mirror from Pottery Barn that costed me $700, and it was missing. The mover told me they misplaced it in a different trunk and would return it to me after a week. Then I never heard back from them. They apparently stole it and probably gave it to their family members and sold it.
When I submitted my claim, the Worldwide Van Line told me it would take 4 months to process the claims. So I patiently waited, waited, and waited. Now it is October, 8 months after my move, I still didn't have my reimbursement. I repeatedly contacted the agent in Worldwide Van Line. Agent told me World Vane discontinued working with the amble moving company so I had to contact Amble moving on my own. How ridiculous is that??
When I contacted the Amble Moving, they said they already denied my claim a month ago. I asked them why they denied it and why I wasn't informed of it. They said they already sent me a letter. I found it so ridiculous because I never received any written explanation. No one even contacted me. I am so frustrated and have NEVER ever been scamed like that. I really hope no customer will ever been scamed the way I did. I hope I can file a small business suit against them because it is not right to take advantage of customers like that. However, I don't have the time and energy to do that. I think companies like them prey on customers like us. They know we won't have time and energy to pursue a law suit against them for damages or stolen items as little as couple hundred bucks.
Both Worldwide Van Lines and Amble Moving are the dirts in the business. They don't deserve to be in the business at all. I hope the government can do something about it.
