I have a degree from M.I.T and have no idea how I was stupid enough to fall for this companies sweet talk scam. My initial reaction to this companies low price was one of relief since almost every other company I recieved quotes from were much higher. After viewing their Better Business Bureau accredited company with an A- I chose them because how bad can an A- company be? My answer is, very bad and very irresponsible. We filled out an inventory list and came to a weight of 4,200 pounds worth of items which was on par with the rest of the companies quoting me by weight but the only difference with Worldwide Van Lines was the price, a mere $1,500.00 compared to p[rices ranging from $2,200-$2,800. We gave them a credit card for them to charge a $300.00 deposit leaving the balance at $1,200 if our weight was within the 4,200 pound range and with that price packing of 40 assorted boxes was included. When the movers from their subcontracted company showed (they lied and told me they had their own trucks which I later found out they had none whatsoever) the driver and his helper were actually very nice, they had showed me their documents recieved from the company showed the same balance, but with the packing omitted which then caused us to start calling Worldwide Van Lines and obviously nobody from the company answered any of the extensions even though it was a Saturday and they "claim" to be available 7 days a week. We started calling at 10 am and continued until around 1pm and nobody answered or responded at any point to our numerous messages. We then settled with the driver for an additional $500.00 to supply and pack the boxes but since they had no knowledge of the packing at all they had to travel nearly 30 miles away to a U-haul and pick up the boxes. When they arrived back at our house they also told us, no way were we at the quoted 4,200 pounds but probably closer to 6 or 7,000 pounds but they would "take it easy on us" since this happens with just about every move they do for Worldwide Van Lines. We let them load our items onto the truck because we had to be out of our apartment and considering they were already 2 days later than promised we were really stuck with them. So, when we finally did get a call back from the driver, he had told us as he suspected the weight had gone up to 5,700 pounds which is a 1,300 pound difference from what they quoted us and we would now owe an additional $600.00 for the weight. Lets do the math, $500.00 for boxes that we were already supposedly charged for, and another $600.00 for weight variance that they definately knew but gave us a lighter weight to make it sound good. 2 things we have learned about this company, first, they lie and lie big time, second, they will never respond to complaints or phone calls and could care less about their customers. We paid almost double what we were quoted and fell for the low price scam. do yourselves a favor and don't let low prices dictate which company you are going to use, we found out the hard way and we're sure alot more people will follow suit but hopefully you all make the right choice, use a reputable company or do it the old fashioned way and rent a truck and do it yourselves but save yourself a headache and unnecessary stress and stay away from this outfit.
