I contracted with World Wide Van Lines to find a reputable mover for my move from Lake Ozark, MO to Scottsdale, AZ. The contract was for $1864.69; it was figured on my inventory list given to the representative. I sold most of my heavy pieces ( china, dining table and chairs and a large rolltop desk) to make the load even lighter. I was promised a reputable mover to pick up my furniture and belongings in Missouri and delivery the items to Arizona around 9/24/09 There were to be no extras as far as the move went. Lone Star Movers was hired by World Wide Vanlines showed up to pickup my belongings and stated that the contract with Worldwide Van Lines was not good. He said they were just salesmen and didn't know what they were talking about. I was to do a new contact with him and it was going to cost me about $5000 for the move. He stated that the items I had packed and ready were going to total more than 6500 lbs as opposed to the 4000 lbs quoted by World Wide Van Lines. ( the driver that delivered my things, from Lone Star, stated my belongings were only 500 cf, in line with my original estimate) I tried calling Tim at World Wide and got no one. I emailed him immediately. Elon, from the moving company, told me I had to pay the extra including tariffs and mileage and all extras or he would give me a flat rate of $3500. Being a woman alone, and not being able to contact my brokers at World Wide Van Lines, I had to make a decision immediately. Elon said I had ten minutes to decide or he was leaving. I was very upset because I had to one else to turn to and took the $3500 flat fee. I had to move out of my home that day. The whole experience was a scam and I paid over triple the price for the moving company to move my things. I was to give the moving company, per the contract with World Wide Van Lines, $1100 at the time my furniture was delivered to Arizona. Instead, I had to pay Elon from Lone Star Moving $2900 up front and then another $600 on delivery of the furniture. My price was now $4264.69. I paid World Wide $764.69 brokers fee on my HSBC Mastercard. They did nothing but give me a phoney contract price and send me a scam artist for a moving company. They did not deserve the fee for costing me triple for my move. World Wide Van Lines cost me more money and did nothing on my behalf when I finally got in touch with them. DO NOT USE WORLDWIDE VANLINES!!!!!!
