Suddath (suddath.com) is used by many corporations to relocate executives. While the packers were very professional, their loaders were in such a hurry to unload and get back to Houston, they damaged three of our high value items, one being a dining room table pedestal which was snapped in two because they were not paying attention or properly managed.
Mr. Hines, Suddath's Mgr of Claims Administration, said it was their "policy" not to pay to replace items which can be repaired (even though we claimed $250,000 in insurance when loading). I refused to assume the liability for a substandard repair in the event this table were to collapse during a buffet or corporate entertainment event which could expose me to additional liability or destroy a expensive floor rug. Therefore, I purchased the replacement pedestals with my own funds (apprx. $1300) so the table could be used as soon as possible.
My recommendation to anyone with sufficient assets and personal wealth is to use a "white glove" moving service, NOT United Van Lines Suddath (suddath.com) since it does not take responsibility for the actions of it's employees, assumes insurance premiums for claims it never intends to pay, and is so poorly mismanged, it's corporate employees cannot meet self-imposed deadlines to return telephone calls.
Next time, I intend to use www.deliverylimited.com (and will ensure such a service is included in the terms of any employment offers).
