While Karin in the office is extremely nice, it is important to consider that Unique is not actually a moving company. Unique movers will not show up at your house. This company is a broker and a random group of movers will show up at your house and you can do no research as to how good people who actually handle your furniture are.
For my long distance move, the company that picked up my furniture was great, they wrapped everything well and packed it nicely. This is where the good part ends. Once they were done, they DOUBLED the quote that Karin had given me for the move, but I had to accept because I was moving that day.
This company unloaded my furniture at a storage facility and then another company picked it up and loaded it into their truck and hauled it across the country.
All of my furniture arrived damaged and my boxes looked like they had been used for soccer. Many items in the boxes were broken and I have spent as much repairing furniture with sentimental value as I did on the move. Their ridiculous insurance will not help you at all either @42 cent per pound a 300 pound solid oak bookshelf will only fetch you $140, if you paid $2000 for it, that doesn't matter at all. Also, the contract that you sign with them when they pick your stuff up has a clause in it that you can only sue them in Miami or you have to pay for them to travel out to your court.
In all my move costs looked something like this:
Initial quote from Karin: $1350
Additional amount added to quote at pickup: $1650
Repairs to very damaged furniture: $2100
Total cost: $5100
Quote from Allied Vanlines: $4700
Quote from PODS: $5000
Do yourself a favor and don't get suckered by the fake good reviews, entrust your valuables to a company with a reputation. In the end you get what you pay for.
Eventually, Karin got sick of hearing about my repair costs and no longer takes my calls or responds to emails. My biggest regret is that I also recommended them to a friend who was moving at the same time, because they seemed so affordable. Her quote was doubled also and her stuff was damaged too.
