I booked a move from Tyler, TX to Denver,Co for my son with John from Statewide Movers. He was very helpful and assured me that the quote he emailed would be an accurate cost, or possiblly even cheaper, but that he had overestimated and there would be no way the price would go up. I was quoted $1339.51 and paid $100.00 deposit to book date of move. The driver told my son after loading that the quote was off and there would be add'l charges for both wrapping his furniture and how much space it took up in trailer. After my son and I left several messages for John, he spoke with my son 2 days later and told him the extra charges would be looked into and taken care of. 2 days after delivery was to take place, the driver called my son and told him to have all payment arrangements taken care of before he would deliver my sons belongings. After more calls and more messages to John at Statewide, my son spoke to another person there and was told that he would need to make a $500.00 cash payment and put the rest on a credit card. I had already covered with John that I wanted the entire amount on my credit card. But my son was told he had to pay $500.00 of the total in cash in order to get delivery. When the driver got there, he said he couldn't get close enough to the bldg and there was another $150.00 charge for long carry and $150.00 for 2 flights of stairs. Then after unloading the truck, he told my son he could not reaassemble the furniture because he wasn't the one who took it apart. The cost ended up being $2517.02-almost double the quote I received. This was a scam from beginning to end. As for John, he still isn't returning any phone calls. But he has not heard the last from me. Do not use this company under any circumstances!!
