Before booking with Ryder Moving and Storage, I attempted to look at reviews. The name was misleading-Storage and Moving Services, Inc. Therefore I did not find any reviews. They said they had split off from Ryder recently and their website was under construction.
However, the day AFTER I faxed my confirm and deposit, I read MANY POOR REVIEWS. I became very anxious and nervous to proceed with this company. So, I attempted to contact them to cancel-this within a 24 hour timeline. No answers; Number unavailable; I left messages, faxed a cancellation notice, emailed, called numerous times. No response.
Finally after 4 days, I did get a call back from Crystal in Customer Service. She referred me back to Aron-the sales person with whom I booked. Aron called me back. He was frustrated with me that I was going to let a few bad reviews 'freak me out' and cause me to lose my deposit.
I told him I had lost faith in his company-it was a matter of 24 hours-no labor had passed hands, and I felt my deposit could be refunded. I reminded him I was the customer and I wanted to cancel-I did not trust any part of his company-I did not want to experience the nightmares that others had gone through on their moves! I challenged him to continue to be my advocate and work on refunding my deposit. It's unlikely this will happen, but I just want to say-I should have listened to my gut!
I do believe they have misrepresented themselves. I think they are a Broker, not a carrier/shipper like they say. My deposit was $560-it might be the best loss I've every had!
This issue is still unresolved. I have not received a written confirmation that my move has been cancelled! If they show up to move me-that's where the nightmare begins. In this day and age, it's not that difficult to email a confirmation!
