I originally started with an internet search for a moving company.I recieved several quotes and decided to work with Ryder Moving and storage. I like to check reviews and records of companies I do business with. Gilbert the representative said they were in business for 5 years and that there web site had lot of testimonies of their service.
At first inspection they checked out ok. However I began to get suspicious when they required way more then any other company I spoke to for a deposit and made you sign a non-refundable agreement. Two Men and a Truck asked for $200.00 they wanted 1/3 the cost of the move. I gave them only $500.00 which they accepted and then the push began once I had a move date. Three different representatives called 3 days in a row wanting half of the money before the truck got to my property. I then got disgusted being treated like I was a dead beat that wouldn't pay as there was a schedule they sent which clearly stated that you gave a check (certified funds or credit card that had to be verified and again signed non-refundable) at time of pick up. I then researched deeper and found that there are BAD reviews on this company! I also checked with the Attorney General and found that Josh Socia one of the men that called me worked for a company called Global as did nearly every one of the people calling me. The company they used to work for has massive complaints and now they all work at Ryder. I then asked Gilbert for a copy of their license and insurance.I got a copy of the insurance but no license. They had a license but it was not 5 years old it was only started in November of 2012. They lied about their time in business and its most likely too why thy dont have more bad reviews. I cancelled with this company because they are more interested in getting all your money than they are giving you service. I lost my deposit but I am going to file a complaint withe the attorney general AS THEY LIED TO ME ABOUT HOW LONG THEY WERE IN BUSINESS.
Two Men in a Truck were great and only gave them $200.00 to move and they gladly accepted my personal check after arriving to my new location.
