Moving from Fl to NH

I went on line in pursuit of a moving company. Darren from Ryder phoned me several times trying to persuade me to use them. Finally, I made the decision that this was a good company. a good name, reliable etc. I should have read the reviews first. Darren assured me that he personally would be with me and my goods every step of the way from start to finish. They were very good about the pick-up of my goods. They came on time and the transaction went well. Darren told me I could store my goods with Ryder for one month free of charge. I chose this option. Then it all went down hill from there. I wanted to move the goods from Fl to New England before the end of the first Month. I had made this clear that I wanted the goods delivered on the 30th of May. I was in Canada until the 28th and would be available on the 30th. I get a call on the 27th of May at 7:30 pm telling me my things would be delivered the next day, the 28th at 10 am. I had to drive 8 hours that night to get there in time for their early delivery. They did not give me the courtesy of even a 24 hour notice. I might add that I am a 70 year old widow on my own. I meet these men (3) at 10:00 am on the 28th. First I was asked for the remainder of the cash I was to pay. No money, no goods would be unloaded. Then I was handed another envelope. This was for their 10 to 20 per cent tip money. Customary I was told. They begin to unload my boxes. This was the beginning of my nightmare. The boxes, looked like they had been through a war. They were all crushed and broken. Stuff was hanging out of them, it was very distressing. Even the plastic cases I had were cracked and broken. They lifted out a bag that I didn't recognize. I told them it wasn't mine and they insisted it had to be. I told them again it wasn't anything I ever saw. Finally they took it back. Then I discovered to my horror they did not have my large, framed pictures. I have a family of 7 children and 22 Grandchildren. There were 10+ photos that were large and Ryder packed them themselves because I didn't have a box large enough for them. These are still missing. When I called the company to complain, they suggested I might need to take some other pictures to replace these! Darren has remained aloof and not available to the phone through all my complaints. I am not done with this company yet and I would think twice before ever advising anyone to use these people.
