I would not recommend AMPM Moving and Storage. I researched movers for 2 months for a move from Texas to Georgia. Kyle at AMPM moving was definitely the most engaging but his company fell very short in delivering on his promise to provide a stress-free experience.
-First, they were the most expensive quote I received, but I used them because Kyle said that all of their BBB complaints were resolved and they were a family business.
-Although AMPM knew that I was moving into an apartment, and stated that they would do the research of the area…the driver arrived with an 18 wheeler truck and 56+ ft. cab. The driver said that he could not maneuver into my apartment gate. They told me that I had two options. I could rent a Uhaul and they would unload/reload/unload or I could pay an long distance free of $225. I told him he could take my stuff back to Texas. I was told that I had a binding contract and could not be charged anything additional. He figured out how to get the 18 Wheeler in the apartment complex at that point.
-Delivery Dates: Terrible! I called and gave Kyle the day by which I wanted my things. Although, I understood that they could not guarantee the exact day he said he would try. Three days after the proposed delivery date…I still had not heard from AMPM. I called customer service and no one answered over the weekend. On Monday, I was told that my things were still in Texas because a truck broke down. They did not bother to call me and give me the courtesy of notice. Kyle said that my things would definitely go out Monday. Tuesday my things were still in Texas. Thursday I call the truck company and the guy was so rude. Turns out they are not with AMPM, he was a 3rd party driver. Therefore any problems I had, I had to call AMPM. I did not end up getting my things for a week, and I ended up paying a week of rent for an apartment that I could have moved into later because I thought my things were coming.
- I was also overcharged on my credit card.
-After my ordeal, I called Kyle and asked him to have his supervisor call me on two occasions and I never heard from the company ever again. I had taken two days off of work and with the extra rent charges, having to reschedule utilities and cable, I felt that they should have done something to improve the customer service.
- My dressers were damaged. The movers took my blanket without my knowledge. It was wrapped around and taped to a glass mirror that I packed. They were supposed to assemble my things and they showed up with no tools!
I would not call them a scam, but I do feel that they are crooks. I would not recommend them and if you have any questions you can ask me personally.
