DO NOT USE WHITE GLOVE! EVER!!! My experience with White Glove started off pleasant enough. The salesman was very helpful and patient and answered all of my questions. The movers showed up early and even helped carry down large items that weren't being included with the rest of my stuff for the long-distance move. My belongings were going into storage for a couple of weeks, and then would be sent out west. Unfortunately, Superstorm Sandy hit, and my things were damaged while in their warehouse. I understand they had no control over the storm, but they didn't take any steps to prevent any damage from occurring, even though there was fair warning a storm was coming. They could have moved my stuff off the floor of the warehouse, or if they didn't have capacity to do that, they could have postponed the pickup. I then had to chase them down to get the status of my things after the storm. I finally heard back from Margaret, the head of customer service, who told me my items were in a section of the warehouse that suffered minimal damage. When I asked to be able to see my stuff and try to salvage whatever I could, I was told that wasn't an option and had to accept my goods out in California as per my contract, or wait at least another month for them to set up a staging area (at which point there would be no hope to save anything). She was downright rude and one of the main reasons why I would never recommend this company to anyone.
Fast forward to the delivery in California. I received a call that delivery would take place the next day between 8am and 12pm. They didn't show up til 4:30!! ("truck problems"). They wouldn't take anything off the truck until I paid the balance. Most of my belongings (bed, dresser, clothes, etc) were damaged beyond repair (full of mold, some of the clothes still soaking wet). Therefore I wanted to check and document everything so I had a record of everything that was destroyed. The deliveryman had the nerve to tell me that I was taking too long and that he "didn't have all day". Well don't show up 4 and 1/2 hours late with damaged goods then!
The company is not taking any responsibility for the damage to my items while they were in their possession. So not only did I have to pay them a lot of money to move damaged property, but now I have to spend even more to replace everything. And it's just heartbreaking to see all the sentimental items I've lost that can never be replaced, and White Glove just doesn't care.
