2 BR apartment, from CA to IL. Jenny Morice promised that we would only pay for what we loaded onto the truck - either by weight or cubic footage. The lead person at pickup, Guido, tried to convince us (after the crew carried everything outside) to pay him DOUBLE the price of what our move ended up costing. Jenny quoted us around $3,400 based on our apartment size and distance. Guido "estimated" that our move was 9,500 lbs and/or 1,400 cu ft. (we had several in-home estimates of 4,000-4,500 lbs / 720 cu ft.). Guido argued that we should sign over $6,900 based on cubic footage, on the spot, otherwise "we're gonna have to go weigh the truck, and it's definitely gonna be more." Based on the number of boxes/items we were moving (105 total items, no heavy furniture - mostly small/medium-size boxes weighing 25-40 lbs each), we knew there was no way that our shipment could weigh almost 10,000 pounds, because that would mean that the average weight of each item was nearly 100 lbs - and my wife and I were moving and carrying these boxes with ease all week.
We were stressed and desperate, since the crew had already emptied our apartment (this must be an enormous source of Viper's revenue) and we told them to weigh the truck and we would pay the actual cost based on weight. The actual cost ended up being around $3,400. This company tried to steal thousands of dollars from us by neglecting their contractual guarantee to charge based on the actual size of the move. Their total time from pickup to delivery was 23 days, whereas Jenny bragged that they would make every effort to deliver within 7-10 days. Some items arrived broken but it was not the fault of the delivery crew (who were outside contractors hired by Viper to finish our move). I am certain that they placed lower priority on our move because we did not pay them the extra money at pickup.
