I had a signed contract for my move on June 2/3, 2011. I drove 1,200 miles to arrive on June 1 in GA to be there for the move. I had provided 2 different cell phone numbers where I could be reached during my travels and while in GA. June 3 arrived and I had not received any calls from my sales contact, Robert at United States Van Lines. I called him at noon on June 3 and reached his voice mail, and left a message stating I was verifying that my move was still scheduled as I was planning to leave the next day June 4. One hour later I received a phone call from a Mathew, stating he had be assigned to my case and that as of right now they "still didn't have a carrier for me." When I inquired what had happened as I had a contract, I was told simply "that my paperwork came back, that they did not have a carrier for me. That I was on their priority list to find a carrier and that if they did not find one by the end of the business day I had a right to cancel, and receive a full refund on my deposit." As you can imagine I was completely stressed out. Who was now going to move my things?! And this was graduation weekend for SCAD (which in my experience the whole city of Savannah is completely busy in every which way) And I am supposed to leave tomorrow morning?! I called Mathew back around 7:00pm to check on the status of finding a carrier. They still had not found one, but said that someone could continue to work on it over the weekend. I stated that I could not wait that long, as I was already looking at staying at least one day later than scheduled and spending another nights hotel fees and meals. I said I wanted use my right to cancel and be issued a full deposit refund, and wanted to speak to a supervisor about the lack of professionalism, communication and how they completely failed to provide a carrier as stated in my contract. 15 minuted later my original sales contact, Robert, called me apologizing and how it was his fault, that he dropped the ball. Then the supervisor James called me apologizing but wanted to still work at finding me a carrier. I said not to bother because in the meantime I had found another locally owned company that guaranteed they would be there to move my things from my storage unit early the next morning (which they did-complete life savers) I will never recommend United States Van Lines to anyone. I could not be more disappointed and disgusted with a company.
