Flat rate and estimate that they make is complete scam. Original estimate for me was $4000. This was after adding lots of extra boxes and after we sold bulky items like bed and dining table. Movers that showed up in our house had nothing to do with Uber Movers and moreover they haven't even heard of such company. They were really surprised with estimated and flat rate that we were originally given. They ended up charging us - $4600.
This is the second time we use movers to move between states and last time we used Graebel. We were so satisfied with the level of their service. They were so professional in packing our things. So that this time we also decided to pay for full service and have our household packed by movers. That was the worst mistake we've made. They were so unprofessional: they didn't use gloves, because of the way they packed things there were so many broken item, all our vases were completely destroyed, dishes are also very damaged. After using this guys I completely lost any faith in trusting these things to movers. I will never ever let movers to pack things for me!
Receiving was it's own epic story. First of all, these guys didn't manage to park their truck on our back yard since it was too big for that. When moving in/out of our apartment building all other movers use front side. Since there is no parking sign most movers park their trucks a little bit further down the road. These guys didn't want to do that since it was to far for them to walk to our apartment. So they came up with a plan to rent smaller truck that they can use. For that they demanded additional $400 and when we declined to pay that they said that they will consider it as no-show. When I called Uber Movers number they told us we have no other optons. So we had nothing to do, but pay.
Then they couldn't assemble our baby crib since they had no idea where other movers on sending side put screws (and we still can't find them!). They were very unprofessional, they didn't have any tools to block doors, so that we had to figure out something ourselves. Again, movers that were doing delivery had know idea who Uber Movers is.
There were so many damaged things and overall quality of their work was so low. Also turned out that Uber Movers is just another fake company that then converted into jetBlue van Lines. Turned out that are the same company.
If I had a chance to do it again. I would never ever choose this company. I ended up paying $5000. If knew about everything in advance I would either find more decent company or even sell most of the bulky things and just spend money on pod and do loading/unloading myself.
Don't trust these guys if you care about your household!
