Trans United (US DOT: 1984608, MC: 702632, Registration #: MV659) has “D–” rating on Better Business Bureau. As many as 19 complaints have been made just this year (until mid August) against Trans United on the US Department of Transportation website. It even featured on a TV show (google wxyz trans united) for its appalling service. Its mailing address, physical address and “contact us” address are all different. The legal name of the company is “MOVING FROM AND RELOCATION INC”. The company is owned by Clifford Agnant.
I was given a ‘binding not to exceed quote’. That increased by almost 50% when the movers came on the day of pickup. There was no explanation on why the charge increased even though there was zero change in the inventory list I had provided during the estimate. I had no choice but give in to their demand as I had already paid a non-refundable advance. This seems to be a fairly common trick with this company, if you read the other complaints.
The estimate said delivery would take a maximum of 21 days. After my goods were picked up, I was not given any confirmed date when I would receive my goods. I would call them almost every day and be told my goods would get loaded on an outbound truck “next week” or “in a couple of days”. Initially I spent money on hotel accommodation. Then, I moved into an apartment and lived in that empty apartment, waiting for the goods to come. Days turned to weeks.
I finally received my goods 44 days after they were picked up. I got no compensation. Never during these 44 days did they bother to call me and apologize. Some items were damaged, and I asked them about the claims process. I was told I have to send photo prints (scanned pictures won’t do) and gave me a claims email address that simply bounced emails. I have not come across a business that lacks customer service and scruples more than Trans United. I have suffered, and I would strongly advise you against doing any business with them.
