The sub-contracted driver showed up after hours, loaded most of the household onto the truck, then started demanding cash to pay his hired help. Only after most of the large items were on the truck did I find out that there were 3 other houses packed onto it already!!! Then he ran out of space on the truck, forcing me to pick and choose things to leave behind, like someone at the grocery who's card has been declined.
So... the truck got loaded, and he "eyeballs" the "cubic feet" and demands twice the quoted price... which was supposed to be determined by weight. He refused to unload my things and weigh the truck. I asked him to unload my things back into the house, and he refused unless I gave him $300/hr cash for labor... for 7 hours. I called his dispatch, who told me to pay the man.
I refused to give him ANY cash, but with him threatening to put my things into a storage unit until I paid up, I finally wrote a check to Transnational Moving Services for $3500. The driver does not work for Transnational, but somehow cashed the check the next day.
Now our things have still not been delivered, Transnational refuses to sign an affidavit concerning the check fraud, and our savings have been wiped out.
