These are some bait and switch scammers and you should stay FAR AWAY from them. Initially, Rachel and Gianna seemed very caring and concerned about scheduling my move. They called often, and early in the morning first thing. I thought they were "on top of things" as it related to scheduling this move. As soon as I paid the deposit, I never heard from them again. Then, the week of my move, I started speaking with a very abrupt "Howard". Note: None of them give last names, even when asked, Howard refused to tell me his name. Howard also refused to give me names and contact info from company leaders claiming "just an employee here not authorized to disclose any such information about anyone in this company!".
So, I was scheduled to have my items picked up from storage on Friday, 12/21. They were late and I hadn't received a call, so I called them...only to THEN find out "the driver had a flat tire". Umm. Okay? And no one thought to call me?? The dispatcher I talked to had a very thick accent and sounded like he knew nothing. He even told me wrong pickup address and I was then very concerned. I'd never spoken to this person before and he just made up excuses when I asked about why no one let me know that the driver was now going to be 3 hours late, and thus, too late to gain access to my unit.
I was upset, but I agreed to reschedule for the morning of Saturday, 12/22. I'd asked the dispatcher the day before to be SURE to call me Saturday morning so I was assured they were on their way. No call came. I began calling the office AND the driver, and all my calls went to voicemail. I was sending emails and calling...no response. Finally, an hour after my pickup time, the driver answered and told me he just woke up, and he wasn't at the location. I FINALLY got Howard to answer the phone, and he began giving me excuses about how he didn't handle my move and my rep was on vacation blahblahblah. I told him that wasn't my problem. How they handle their personnel issues was none of my concern, but the fact that the details of my move were AGAIN changing, they were AGAIN late, I had to continue to pay storage fees because of THEIR failure to perform...and things went off the rails from there. A series of unprofessional emails continued with Howard, who initially agreed to pay my storage "From: "howard@theroadwaysvanlines.com" Sent: Friday, December 21, 2012 1:29 PM Subject: RE: RE:
HOW MUCH FOR AN EXTRA DAY CAUSE WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TODAY "
Since then, I inquired about them paying this fee, and Howard said "just because we did not pick-up on such day...does not make us responsible to cover the cost it is in your name not ours...you registered your unit not us." XXXridiculous. When I reminded him of what he said initially, his response was "did not amitt to anything and please don't put words in our mouths..
you will only receive deposit back". I didn't put words in his mouth. He put it in black and white.
So NOW, I'm fighting with them about getting my deposit back. On Saturday, he told me I would get my deposit on Monday, 12/24. I decided not to press that day because it was Christmas Eve, but today being 12/26, I asked again. NOW, he says "i believe deposits are not until after new years". I reminded him that he told me Monday and I expected it to happen today. He said "i wish we could all want what we want when we want , sorry but these are company instructions..credit card comapanies will not be available until after new years..in this case our merchant will not be available until after new years". Needless to say, I would NEVER EVER recommend this company. They are unprofessional, shady, unreliable, uncommunicative, and an overall waste of time.
