I received a quote for $2600.00 from PA to TX. All my items to be moved were disclosed to the moving company prior to the quote and I was told my belongings would be about 700 cubic feet. When the movers arrived, Sal the foreman, said there could be a chance of going a little over in cubic feet but my move wasn't too big so I shouldn't worry. He also said this is the hardest part of the move and I should tip his men well. After all my belongings were loaded on the truck, Sal said my price went up to $5200.00!!!! He said he didn't charge me for the stair fee or packing materials (which was never discussed in the initial quote). He said I was over 1500 cubic feet but would only charge me for 1500. Was able to get price down to $4000 with main Co. Sal then mentioned to me his men (him + 3 guys) usually receive $80 per person as tip and I gave them nothing to drink and this was a big job. He also asked me for more money on top of the $4000!!! ***Also, company will turn around and say you added items (such as table leaf, table legs).
Delivery was due on Friday and we heard nothing from a driver or Co. so when we called we were given at least 3 different #s to try to find the driver. When we got a hold of the driver he said he didn't know where he was and wouldn't get there that day. When we called the main Co, we were told "I don't car about you" and "F you A hole" by one of the supervisors.
When driver came on Sat, he stated he could not fit the 18 wheeler through front gate and would need to transfer items to a U-Haul and we would be responsible for the cost. The driver then shows up in a 17 foot U-Hual WHICH ONLY HOLDS 865 CUBIC FT. All of my items were in there but yet Sal said I had over 1500!!! They sent one guy to unload my heavy furniture which took 4 to load. Driver said it was all show in the beginning. Driver unloaded and my husband helped with the heavy furniture. As I took of the free moving blankets, I found ALL of my wood furniture damaged. A huge gauge in my new dining room table and baby's crib. My buffet had a chunk of wood missing. They put moving tape directly on wood and when peeled off, paint came off. Table legs were damaged. One box had mildew on it and looked like it was left out in the rain. Floor lamp broken and no longer works. I STRONGLY SUGGEST NOT USING THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I COULD KEEP ON GOING BUT I HOPE THIS IS ENOUGH TO HELP YOU DECIDE.
