I had made arrangements with Spirit Van Lines for moving services from New York to Arizona. They requested a deposit. I confirmed my appointment on the Friday and Saturday before the expected pick up of 9/12/2011. I was assured that the truck would be there, and that I would receive a call on Sunday, the 11th. NO call on Sunday. At 9:20am on 9/12/11, I finally got ahold of Spirit, and was told that the truck was on its way. Waited, and waited. At about 1pm, I received a call from a company identifying themselves as Moving Express, and they said that they were going to be coming, as they were helping out Spirit, as they(spirit) didn't have a truck available. They wanted a deposit, which I refused, as it should have been arranged with Spirit. They were supposed to be there between 3-4 that day. At about 3:15pm I received a call from "Moving Express" stating they were unable to come that day, and I could call the next morning and see if they had a truck available. After numberous calls to Spirt, someone finally answered the phone. They said they didn't know when they would have a truck.I requested my deposit, and was told that the managers weren't there, and it would have to wait. I was able to secure another mover--which was a major mover, and the cost was only a few hundred dollars more than what I was going to pay Spirit. I would never use Spirt, or recommend them to anyone as they didn't even have the courtesy to call me and tell me someone else was coming(which they didn't) Don't hesitate to use a major mover, such as Mayflower--because they have truck all over, and the price is not much more.
