We contacted several movers for estimates - only Scobey (a Mayflower affiliate) came on site - 3 times at our request! - to give us estimates. We were moving only a modest number of household good but MAJOR machinery from my father's home metal workshop - milling machine, lathe - which required a forklift and knowledgable guys on both ends. I got cheaper quotes and almost went with one, but found terrible reviews on line (and got confirmation from a San Antonio contact). The move was not cheap by any means, but they delivered on time in North Carolina. And before the big truck came, the fork lift guy came to the house to scope out what needed to be done and realized his fork lift would not fit (vertically) into our garage. When the big truck came, he had rented (on his dime, not ours) a difference fork lift. Then ended up needing to transfer everything from their big truck to a smaller truck to get down our 1/2 mile dirt road, and then bring it into the garage. They spent lots of time helping us figure out where it was going to fit, getting the machine off the pallet, etc. I believe one guy's name was Chris, sorry we didn't get the other names. We would use them again, and highly recommend them. (written by Carol, Fred's daughter!)
