PROS: The two movers who packed up my things from my home were very professional. They spent a long time wrapping, organizing, and labeling things properly for an organized move. They were polite and were very respectful of my home. The three movers who delivered my belongings were also mostly polite. All of my belongings did make it from one location to another.
CONS: I am outraged with this company. I was told that my belongings would be delivered ten business days from pick up- by both Fabio from logistics and the movers themselves. I specifically had my belongings picked up a week early so they could deliver my belongings during the week I had to move into my new location. I was later told that I was given incorrect information, and that it was ten business days from my "early delivery date". I was lucky in that they did show up on a day I could be there to receive it, but it was highly unprofessional. The logistics team I spoke to, and then the supervisor I spoke to following, were rude, unprofessional, and downright unpleasant. At one point I even had to say "You are being very rude, and I'd appreciate it if you could stop and just help me fix this." I was told "I am not rude, so I don't know what to tell you." I have never received such poor customer service.
The movers delivering my things, while polite, were not as careful with my things. I watched them empty what I assume was another move out of the truck, and left it sitting in the hot sun in my parking lot for close to three hours. They did not put together all the furniture. One bookshelf and one desk were both entirely destroyed during the move - but because they were particle board, they are not covered. My shoe rack, which has made it through at least six other moves in the past seven years with no damage, has the top ripped off. One mover sliced my mattress open, and when I said something, he replied he did not. I asked him when else he thought a knife was run across my mattress - his answer was "I used scissors." Apparently, scissors can not cut fabric. I pointed out that there was no fraying yet, that it would've had to be done just now, and he just shrugged.
The movers used my knives and scissors to unpack, as they did not have proper tools. They were late arriving, though I will give them credit for calling and letting me know. They did not unpack all of the furniture, leaving me with getting rid of boxes and moving blankets.
I am not even attempting to file a claim for my mattress. Given how dismissive the movers were, and how horrible it was to speak with the Logistics and Sales department, I honestly feel as though it is not worth the stress. I have no respect for this company - had the two movers the first day not been as great as they were, this would be a one star review.
Overall, I am disgusted with this. I spent $2,000 to have a company treat me and my belongings with minimal respect. I was given false information, and then had it denied more than once. I will not use Summit Van Lines again, and would urge anyone looking for a moving company too search elsewhere.
