Awful experience.....
I moved from Atlanta, GA to Somerset, NJ and hired Safe Way by looking at all the 5* reviews on the Internet. While it was odd to have all the reviews (every single one) with 5*s, I didn't give too much thought. But, now I know.
Not one thing was done right:
- Pickup was advanced just becasue the pick guys (smaller truck) were idle
- Charged additional packing amount without even mentioning about it.
- Didn't reduce the amount although the pickup volume was much lesser than the estimate (the guys agreed to reduce/revise the amount based on actual volume/no. of items at pickup)
- Didn't assign a driver/truck for about a week may be just becuase of their unavailability
- The agent, dispatch guys who kept calling me frequently until pickup wouldn't answer phone/emails. Reaching customer service too was tough. Even if someone from customer service answered, they kept saying they will check with dispatch or billing for status and call me back but they never did. This frustration of not knowing if my stuff was assigned a truck or not went on for about 8days.
- Then, the company deposited the check incorrectly (insufficient/incorrect endorsement) and blamed me about check bounce. Held assignment of truck due to check issue. After I pointed out their issue with incorrect deposit, they agreed to the issue, mentioned the check issue was cleared and finally assigned to a truck. With initial delays and check issue it took about 10days to get the stuff moving from Atlanta.
- While I called up the company an hour before delivery and discussed about the balance and the customer service person confirmed the balance correctly - xxx$. However, the guy delivered had amount xxx$ + (check amount that I previously paid which they initially had deposit issues). I had to settle that amount in the last min.
- While unloading my stuff I noticed the furniture (sofa cushions etc) which were blanket wrapped during pickup were no longer wrapped and were moved without any cover. The driver mentioned Safe Way guys had removed the blanket wrapping as were short of blankets.
- Finally, they never returned the check they said bounced. I had to pay 30$ and had to get the check cancelled.
So, totally nightmare experience. Stay away from these guys.
