This ordeal started when I was looking for a moving company to transport my things from Pennsylvania to California. After looking at various moving companies a man named Eddie Cullen (yes, the same name as the vampire from twilight) contacted me. I gave him my information and a list of what we would be putting on the truck and he gave me an estimate of $1600 dollars and a guaranteed 3 day window of delivery time which was extremely important to me. He also assured me that the movers would put my bed and my sister's bed together at our destination location. The day the truck was suppose to arrive (between 9-10am) it didn't show up so I called the company asking where it was. It was only then they told me they would be about 7 hours late. This was the first sign of any trouble but I brushed it off. BIG MISTAKE! The men that came to get my things later that day were straight up thugs from New York. After packing the truck up I found out that I would actually be paying about $800 more than originally estimated. Furthermore, while signing the papers I noticed that my delivery window had been extended almost 14 days which is unacceptable so I demanded they call their supervisors and get the date changed. The best they could do was to add 5 days on to the previously estimated 3 day delivery window. I also tipped them generously at the end of the day as an incentive to take care of my belongings because I started to get the feeling that they were not going to do so. I was then told that I would receive a call indicating when my things would be leaving to CA and that they would probably get there early so they would put my things into storage if they arrived early so everything would be waiting for me when I got there.
This is where the breakdown in communication rapidly occurred. I never got a phone call saying my things had been sent and when I tried to reach someone to talk to me they "couldn't get a hold of the driver so they didn't know what was going on and they would call me back." Except they never called me back. I got out to Los Angeles and for 10 extra days I waited for my things to arrive without any clue as to when they would be getting there because no one could give me a straight answer. I even asked to speak to Eddie Cullen but he was conveniently out of the office for a while. My delivery dates came and passed and the only excuse they could give me was that "it's just an estimate and not binding" but interestingly enough the price was ALWAYS binding. Finally on the tenth day of waiting, I called the company and SURPRISE my things were being delivered in about two hours with literally no notice. I really shouldn't have had to be the one calling over and over to find my things.
When the movers got to my apartment building in downtown Los Angeles they refused to pull into the loading and unloading alley because didn't think they would fit or be able to get out which is absolutely insane because the alley is specifically meant for large tractor trailers. They also said that if they get a ticket for parking in front of my building it's my problem. WOW. AND HERE's THE BEST PART: they would only carry my things 75 feet unless I paid them more money. I had informed the company when I originally booked, that I would be living on the fourth floor of my building and there were elevators and they said it was fine. I had already been ripped off enough so I refused to pay and they literally dumped everything in my lobby and my sister and I had to drag everything up to our apartment ourselves! (beds, mattresses, couches, large boxes, etc.)
Oh and let me mention the condition of my property. When they opened the truck door my jaw dropped. It looked like an earthquake took place. Things were piled all over the place like they had been thrown in. My entertainment center was demolished literally into pieces. Boxes had been smashed and taped back together in a way that the box didn't even look square anymore. Luckily most of what was packed wasn't harmed but I literally found pieces of broken furniture in some of my boxes that didn't even belong to me. The whole situation was a total nightmare. It's really hard to tell who in that company is the real criminal but I'm sure they are all aware of their complete incompetence and lack of respect or remorse for their poor service. I WOULD NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! All they care about is money and could not care LESS about their customers or their possessions. EXPECT TO BE LIED TO, CHEATED, DISRESPECTED, and FED UP. I've actually never written a review before but felt so strongly about warned people about this excuse for a moving company.
