I needed furniture and clothes moved within a week. I chose Plymouth Rock Van Lines because I thought that they were honest. I talked to the Mario on various occasions. I requested that they visit and give me an actual estimate, I was informed that they don't do this. I gave Mario my inventory and he told me that the inventory was measured by cubic feet. On December 26th, when the movers arrived I asked how much would it be, I was informed that they could not tell me until they had completely loaded the truck. Upon loading the truck, Plymouth Rock Van Lines informed me that my load would cost approximately twice as much as what I was quoted. Instead of measuring my load by cubic feet, the movers were counting boxes and charging .60 per pound.
We requested that they remove my inventory from the truck and return it to my apartment. Mario was on vacation, we finally talked to a female representative, who was great, there was a lot of heated discussion and we finally agreed to pay $800 more. One of the movers appeared to be doing all of the heavy work, one stayed in the truck and the other one just complained. The movers left my belongings (picture frame(s) with broken glass, tables missing screws, broken lamp and a torn mattress, so far), which they damaged in inconspicuous places (I am finding my damaged items as time progresses). At the completion of the move, my husband tipped them each $20 and the one, who did the least complained about the amount of the tip.
Plymouth Rock Van Lines should do a better job at vetting their movers, and I should have done a better job at vetting the Plymouth Rock Van Lines !! This was a scam!!!!!!
