What started as a pleasant experience turned into a stressful nightmare... I contacted Trans-United Movers and told them I had specific date requirements because I was moving my elderly parents from Alabama to Houston, Texas. I would fly to their new home in Texas ahead of them, so we could set up their furniture and unpack all the boxes before they arrived. They told me 3 days would be plenty of time to travel the 750 mile trip. Well, not only did it take them 5 days, but instead of the $1,600 I was quoted, they charged over $5,000, PLUS an extra $450 for unloading my parents things to a smaller truck from the 18 wheeler they had sent along with 2 other family's furniture on the same truck. You see, the delivering driver said he didn't want to park the truck in the street because the only access was on the far side on a one way access street (because of all the other 2 families loaded on the same truck). YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!! Three hours later they showed up with the smaller truck (which they could have used in the first place from Alabama). Get this!... They insisted on being paid in cash that they never mentioned until they were about to deliver 2 days late. Imagine being from out of town to help your parents move and they demand over $5000 in cash or they won't deliver. It turns out that Trans-United subcontracted Platinum Movers, who in turn subcontracted Hotlanta Movers to deliver in Houston. What a mess. Stay away from companies that subcontract others for your move and stay away from all 3 of these companies or you could end up as stressed we my wife and I were trying to do a good thing, and ending up exhausted... not from the move, but all the unnecessary money and stress they caused us. Find a nationally recognized company you can trust.
