When I moved 2.5 years ago, I got stuck with a couple of clowns who showed up half an hour late, argued with each other all day, and locked their truck keys inside the truck. It was a nightmare.
This time around, I hired ORI VAN LINES and could not be happier with my choice. I never thought that a moving company could actually make me happy XXXI'm usually just glad they don't break anything. Here's my story.
I recently needed to move rather quickly from SF. On a certain Friday, I started calling local moving companies that were highly rated on the web. Some were booked for 3 weeks solid, plus wanted to charge me for every little thing (including fuel and shrink wrap). Some did not answer their respective phones at all. The only person I could get a hold of was the guy from Ori van lines, and it turned out they were the best choice. Why?
- They were able to help me move the very next week (in fact their website says they welcome last minute jobs).
- They were more affordable than others, even with their recent fee increase. Even after a decent tip, my total cost with ORI was still lower than all the others would have been without tip. Ori van lines also do not charge hidden fees, and they didn't nickel-and-dime me for fuel and shrink wrap.
- They did a great job of communicating both online and via cell phone, especially if they were running a little late.
- Moving day was just about as painless as I could ask for. No drama or scams, just 2 professional guys doing their job efficiently.
Here's the clincher. I have a large poster framed in glass that accidentally got cracked during the move, which I didn't discover until a full week after the move. I called them and, because they were the ones who packed it, they actually drove across the bridge to my apartment, picked up the frame, had the glass replaced, and brought it back to my door 2 days later XXXat no additional charge! I was AMAZED. They definitely went the extra mile (literally) to make sure the customer was delighted. I can't imagine any other moving company doing something like this. Most of them would probably have just blown off my phone call, since I didn't discover the damage until well after moving day. And since I only had basic insurance, I would have settled for any compensation I could have received. But ORI VAN LINES exceeded my expectations.
Now, don't take this anecdote as a free pass to pack your stuff lazily, or expect ORI to do this sort of thing all the time. In fact, I recommend you buy your own mattress cover and pack large framed items securely yourself, just in case. But as far as moving companies go, look no further than ORI VAN LINES. I would definitely use them again
