I used OSI to ship my personal belongings from the US to Dubai late last year. I had a terrible experience with them. Though a few people there were somewhat helpful, overall I would rate their customer service as very poor. They failed to return most of my phone calls and were very difficult to reach. They gave me a quote for how much shipping my belongings would cost, and I ended up having to pay 50% higher, though the cubic footage of my shipment was within the amount that I told them. I had previously been told that I might be charged 5-10% higher because of how my boxes ended up being loaded on the pallet, but 50% higher is obscene. When I tried to find out what happened, nobody returned my calls. When I finally spoke with them, they suggested that, if I was unhappy with my bill, I “could go pick my stuff up at the port in NYC”. Not exactly a helpful suggestion. In addition, my goods arrived in Dubai 6 weeks later than I was originally told. A big problem here is that OSI is a “virtual” business – they don’t actually control much of this process, so any issues (such as measurement of my shipment) are not controlled by them. Though they were the lowest quote I received, I ended up paying much more than other carriers and received my goods 6 weeks later than planned. Lesson learned.
