This experience far surpassed my worst nightmares regarding our move from Eugene, OR to Austin, TX. Our original quote was for $1,500.00. Total bill when all is said and done was $3,677.00. Total amount of damaged and missing items was $1,025.00.
Upon pick up of our items we were told that legally NVL was allowed 21 days to deliver our items. After what seems like hundred of phone calls we were given a delivery date. That day came and went with no phone call and of course no delivery. It went on and on like this for weeks. On the fourth delivery date scheduled we received a phone call from an employee of NVL telling us that the company they hired to complete the move had lost our items. We were instructed to call the company and threaten them that we were going to call the police if they did not deliver our items.
33 days past our original drop off date we finally received our property. We had several broken and missing pieces. For the past two months we have been attempting to get a hold of NVL to file a claim for these items. Of course their phone numbers are not working and they will not return our emails. The claims company listed on our contract informed us that they have not worked with NVL in over a year because of their bad business practices. I am currently in the process of filing a dispute with my credit card company.
I will never again use a moving company! It was the worst feeling in the world to be told your items were missing. I STRONGLY recommend you RUN as far away from Northern Van Lines as you can! They are the most unprofessional, in-compassionate, horrible company i have ever worked with.
