ADVICE: Watch all your financial dealings with this company very carefully. They are first rate theives!
Extremely rude staff, so please be prepared with some choicest epithets to hurl back at them - because you will received lots of them.
We faced a unique problem while moving. We had less than 1000 lbs worth of stuff to move with little to no furniture - since we lived in a furnished apartment. It was mostly kitchen utensils, our clothes, other personal items and some additional household items. So we had a tough time trying to figure out the weight but we knew it would be less than 1000 lbs.
Most of the better rated transportation providers had a 2000lbs minimum and hence were expensive for our load. Hence I was scouting for an affordable carrier. New Way Moving was the only provider that stood out. We checked the ratings and found that they were very poorly rated. But we proceeded with them anyways since the other options were way to expensive and we did not have many bulky stuff anyways.
Both Rachel and Regina were very polite and answered any questions we had, made themselves accessible when we needed them - until we had paid them the money -the $200 deposit! Once we were customers everything changed - there was no response to any calls. We were given a binding estimate of $900 for upto 2000 lbs - something that cannot change at any cost except for small incidentals like extra packaging used, stairs climbed, etc.
Now the deal is (this is never disclosed to you): New Way is just a booking agent having connections with various moving services. It appears that there is little to no communication between the moving services and New Way guys once a deal is struck. Greenvan Lines was assigned to move our stuff. Since we were too pre-occupied we never noticed that the $200 advance was never adjusted in the bill. We paid the 50% advance as is the norm. We received our stuff in NJ upon arrival and paid the rest of the stuff. We had completed forgotten about the $200 advance. It occured to me within the next 2 days. I immediately called GreenVan lines and they said they were never informed about it by New Way - they charged us what was promised to them.
Next I called Rachel @ New Way. She never responded to phone calls - just sent one small response to an email and no further communication after that. Finally after 15 days of trying I lost my patience and called up their office insisting to speak to any manager available. I was put across to Michael. I must admit I was quite agitated with all that was happening - but I was not rude. I was surprised when Michael started abusing me - no apologies, no inquires - direct abusing!
His point: we overloaded the truck with more than we promised and that they do not owe us any money. I reminded him about the deposit and the binding quote. Moreover we did not exceed the 2000lbs which was the maximum limit anyways.
To my surprise Michael now started swearing at me!!!
I have NEVER come across such an unprofessional service provider in any part of the world! Its not so much about losing the $200 that hurts me - but its the mental agony and the attitude of treating customers like dirt after you get their money.
Unless extremely necessary I would advice DO NOT use their services!
