I have never been one to email comments unless they are negative but I just
had to after this experience.
I took a job in Longview, TX and am moving from Denver today, June 23rd. I
found movers over the Internet (bad idea I later discovered) and booked my
move. I was assured my driver would call me by Sunday, June 19th with the
trucks arrival time Tuesday, June 21st. I never received a call, email,
text- nothing. I called over 10 times on Monday, June 21st- just one day
before my scheduled long distance move. No one answered or would return my
calls. Finally, I reached the disputes department who let me know that my
move had been 'cancelled'. I was furious...I had no idea a move could be
cancelled after booking in advance. I read over my contracts and saw no
clause about the carrier canceling. I was furious, panicked and confused. I
was told the moving company that was supposed to pick me up changed
'routes'. I asked to speak to a manager but was told it would take them 48
hours to get back to me. My move was in less than 24 hours. The company
offered me no assistance, no suggestions of other movers, no apologies- I
was only told my card would not be charged.
Knowing I had to report to my first day of work this Friday in Texas and
having no movers scheduled, I began to frantically research local movers
that did long distance moves. I called a few and then found Neighbors
online. I figured if the company had been voted best in Denver, it was worth
a shot.
Fighting back tears, I called and reached Karl Williamson. I told him (mid
sobs) what had happened. He assured me he could help and that even if he
could not, he would find a moving company that could. Within minutes he had
collected my inventory estimate, spoken to his dispatcher and let me know
there was a truck and movers available. Although the pricing was higher
than my previous movers, he explained to me what the move included, exactly
why what had happened to me before would not happen with Neighbors and was
even able to offer me a price break even with such short notice. He assured
me he would be my direct point of contact throughout the move and gave me
his direct line.
Within minutes I had a contract emailed to me that Karl went over in detail
and in only an hour or so turnaround- my move was scheduled. Karl even
offered to help me coordinate storage facilities in Longview as my home will
not be ready until August 15th. I'm pretty sure I have called him way too
many times than the usual moving customer but he has answered his phone
every time and always offers assistance with a great attitude...which has
really helped me during the stress of the move!
Karl coordinated a call with Robert at 67th Ave Movers to schedule my move
time. Robert was extremely personable over the phone and confirmed my move
times on the call as well as re-confirmed my pick up and drop off locations.
Yesterday, Ben, Travis and another mover whose name escapes me, arrived at
my apartment from 67th Avenue Movers. They had been running behind from an
unload and called me to let me know early in the morning. I was so
appreciative of being kept informed. They arrived at the time they said they
would and went over all of the moving paperwork in detail. Some of my items
needed some extra care with packing and even some custom boxes that they
built in seconds! They were extremely efficient and friendly and moved my
apartment so quickly! I was thrilled!
Karl asked me to call him after the movers left to be sure everything was
satisfactory. I let him know they did an excellent job and I couldn't be
happier!
My items are in transit currently but I have no doubt they will arrive
safely to Longview and the process will be as seamless as it has been.
Truly from point A-Z has been such a great experience! I will (and already
have) recommended Neighbors to friends, family, colleagues and clients.
Thank you to Karl, the guys at 67th Ave and everyone for a great move!
Moving across country is a big life change and very stressful and emotional.
But once I had my move scheduled, it was the least stressful part of
leaving!
