Worst company ever! Do NOT hire them.
Hire: Americas Moving Services instead.
(I don't work for any of them, but I've been a customer of both)
I was deceived by a friendly lady who is in customer service. Beware: she is NOT your advocate, she is just there to make sure you think they are a nice company, but they will hurt you in the end.
They damaged 33 items during our move. Here's an extract of one of the letters:
-The truck arrived 1h later than scheduled (at 10am) without any prior communication; I had to contact you to find out what was happening.
-The driver explained that the "free insurance" consisted in replacing whatever items they damaged. He explained this clearly before I signed the contract and after the arrival at the destination when they shattered the dining table top.
-During the initial sales call, the estimated time of moving out was 2h. I let your salesman know I had to be out of the apartment by noon. During the walkthrough, the driver had the same estimate. It took over 4 hours.
-During the sales call and during the walkthrough I specifically talked about our glass dining table and your staff was confident they were able to move it without harm. During the walkthrough, the moving team confirmed they could move it safely. They tried to move it and decided to place it on the floor, leaning against the wall. The table top slid across the floor and destroyed an electrical outlet on the wall. Luckily the table top didn't withstand any damages then. The movers shattered the table top at the destination, trying to fit it in the elevator. He following day a neighbor moved into a second floor apartment and coincidentally he owns a very similar table top which was moved safely by their movers who used the stairs. I had to drive all the way back to the origin, talk with the prior landlord, gain access to the apartment and fix the electrical outlet which required a little masonry work. This waste of time and cost, added to the grievance of explaining and dealing with a prior landlord.
-Our 2.5year old mattress arrived with all sorts of bumps. My wife and I have had trouble sleeping since and we have back aches ever since. The mattress warranty does not cover this type of damage since it was not caused by the manufacturer. Now we own a damaged mattress with no warranty protection.
-The moving team treated with disrespect a few neighbors at the origination building. The building's manager had to intervene on one occasion, since the driver was laughing at an old lady who was simply trying to use one of the elevators. The building manager claims they were extremely disrespectful and thoughtless. This type of behavior falls back on me, since I'm the one responsible for their actions.
-There is a missing small box which contained 4 blue mugs among other things.
