Our move was a nightmare. I was convinced to use this company after talking to the suave customer service rep Matt; he sounded great and I saw that the company has a A rating with the BBB. How bad could it be right? Awful! They have an A rating because they are basically a broker. They get jobs and throw them out there for any fly by night driver/company to pick up the job. They tell you their drivers only drive 500 miles per day, which is a load of crap. My driver showed up 2 days early because as he told me he drives 900 miles per day. We had family in town for a graduation and had to drop everything to scramble to get things packed becuase they said if we could not go early they had no idea when they would be able to pick us up. My drivers name was Tal, and if you wind up with that driver you are better off moving your house yourself. Nationwide tells you all wrapping materials are included, then Tal has you sign a paper telling you he can charge up to $900 in wrapping materials. Then after you tell Nationwide all your items, Tal says you have bulky items and he can charge you an additional $700 for bulky items. The local movers almost walked off the job 4 times as one said in his 30 years of moving he has never seen a worse driver. I heard Tal tell the packers to just thrown the items in the truck as he doesn't care if the whole load falls over. We got the run around from Nationwide, as they are just a broker and really have no influence over the awful drivers/companies they use. We requested a reweigh as there were a bunch of unticketed items in the truck. The driver is supposed to leave your job and directly weigh the truck so you can know how much to pay the dirver on arrival. Nationwide said they could not locate the driver for days and we did not find out the weight of the truck until 5pm the day before pick up...not really easy to get cash out after that time. On arrival the movers threw our stuff in the house, and complained about having to take items to the appripiate room. They paid no attention to boxes marked fragile or this side up. They are supposed to ticket each box/item they put on the truck and call the number as they come off the truck, Tal the driver would not allow the movers to do this. At the reweigh Tal the driver tried to weigh the truck minus the 3 grown men and moving blankets that were in the truck when they did the initial weigh. Again dealing with Nationwide about this matter was useless. They finally put Tal's boss on the phone who told my husband they were sick of dealing with us and asking questions (add a few FU's said to us by his boss as well).
This is just a brief explanation of the awful experience we had with this company. Add about 4 hours of phone time talking to incompetent people who all tell you different things and keep passing you off. After speaking with the local movers this is what they recommend:
-Look in the phone book for moving companies as this is where all the old well known companies advertize (companies such as Mayflower, United and a bunch other companies I can't remember). These companies use their own drivers and are not a broker company.
-Ask a friend in the military what moving company they are going to be top of the line.
After all the stress, time, damaged items that this move caused I would never use this company ever again. I would pay more to have a professional company that knew what they are doing and are honest. Choose wisely and if you go with this company you are warned!
