Move On & Relocation

I was assured that a bad review I read about this company had been rectifed and also the client was a very difficult person to work with. The client went by name of SWAP and his review could also be my review.
First of all and this is the biggest issue, watch out for the quote they give you. It is way under no matter what they say.
This company charges by cubic feet of the total move. The estimator(Chris) assures you he has had great success with the formula he uses. Nope don't believe him. They will say that I added more furniture/items than was on the document we went over to list all the items and their size thus I had to pay more for the shipment. Trust me not true. I had to leave a lot of furniture behind and pictures and tools from garage as well becasue it did not fit on the truck.
The truck is another story. They claim their truck(they only have one,yet they claim to have more) broke down, so in order to pick up my items as close to the pick up time as scheduled they would send another truck to load my goods. Well the truck they sent was not a trailer truck, but some small RYDER truck that was approxiamtely going to hold 1300 -1500 sqaure feet of goods. Well that would have been fine and dandy if they had not under estimated the amount of furniture I had, thus I left a lot of furniture etc. behind because there was no getting anymore into the truck they sent. Every item on the list was there, but it could not be packed due to their incompetence.
They then sent the truck back to New York to UNLOAD onto the now fixed trailer truck and was going to pick up more loads since it is cost effective. No problem, but now the chances of breakage and lost items increase since they have to unload all the items in the small truck onto a trailer truck. You got it, breakage. Not real bad, but what I couldn't understand and they could not explain is how do they rip the top of my WASHING MACHINE(the lid) off the washing machine. No idea.
Now hear are some points that makie this a move from hell. One of the movers who was at the house in Va. to load truck spilled RED GATORADE on our frshly cleaned carpet and was trying to clena it up with WINDEX and not tell us. Fortunately they did pay for this to get cleaned, but it was the point they didin't tell us they did it. We caught them.
Second point is the sales person Chris will offer you some big boxes like the clothing boxes to hang clothes in. He suggests that you fill it up with other things in the box to maximize the use of space. Won't happen, the movers won't let you fill the boxes up by stuffing other things in them. They literally took our sheets, towels and pillows out of the boxes and said they had to be packed separately. Of course I don't have any more boxes, so they are glad to charge an arm and a leg for their boxes. Think lots of money here because now you are using additonal cubic feet that was not in the estimate. Don't take the boxes, they take up a lot of cubic feet space and that is what you are paying by. The sales person said to keep your dresser drawers loaded with clothes. Nope, need to pack them as well in their expensive boxes.
Now here is the kicker about this company, because they sent a smaller truck than what was expected, they ran out fo blankets and plastic wrap and any thing else they would use to wrap and protect the furniture. Guerss what they do now? They start ripping up their expensive boxes and wrap the furniture in these things. KACHING KACHING. My wife stops them and runs to Home Depot and buys a bunch of their boxes to do the wrapping with because they have to wrap everything. More money. Last but not least, they charge you for all the plastic wrap they use, the rolls of tape to wrap the boxes and next thing you know it was over 250.00 for tape and plastic wrap. Buy your own and save receipt if you are stll tempted to use this company. You can always return unused when you get to your destination.
In closing I say DO NOT DO NOT believe anything they say to you they are out to deceive you of every penny they can.
My original estimate was $3400.00 aproximately. My final bill was over $4500.00.
All during this they say they are sorry, you must have underestimated because they are never wrong and they will act as if everything will be taken care iof when the move is done all the while they are stabbing you in the back.
This is not sour grapes, this is a fact and I can document everything. Where they make their money is the low ball estimate and becasue you exceed their estimate you pay a rate at almost twice the price the rate was on the estimate becasue you lied about your list of items. I did not do this, I measured just about every piece of large items I had and they still were about 600 -700 cubic feet low in their estimate and remember I left a bunch of stuff behind because the truck was too small.
Buyer beware and bring lots of cash!! They will not touch a piece of furniture to load or unload until yu have paid them the monies owed and it will be more than the ESTIMATE!!
P.S. Buy the additional insurance, becasue they only pay 60% of the estimated value of the broken or lost item. Of course you don't need to worry abnout that becasue you are going to trust this review and bypass this company. :) :)
