When I decided to move from Puerto Rico to Texas I became concerned that my things might be stolen by the moving company. After all, a quick Google search will show a lot of angry customers from various moving companies who have their things held at ransom with sudden additional last minute fees. I chose Monti because it seemed reputable. Even though it had no possitive reviews, it had no negative reviews either. Furthermore, my secretary had recommended them.
I ask them to do a quote, and they said that they didn't work by square feet or by weight, that they worked by box / item. This is the way to go when doing quotes, as it sets on a specific price and prevents "whoops we did the square foot measure wrong you owe us 5k additional" hidden fees. I had packed 25 boxes of books, 10 boxes of random stuff, and had 10 additional items, which included three electric reclinable chairs, one executive computer chair, and a sword bundle. The movers picked up the stuff on the time they had scheduled and told me that it would take "roughly 3 - 4 weeks" for the stuff to arrice in Texas. I arrived in texas one week after the movers picked up the stuff. One month elapsed, no stuff. When the 5th week elapsed I grew worried and thought they had stolen my stuff. I was about to go psycho on them, when I decided to call. The lady on the other side apologized for the delay and explained that they had yet to schedule a trip from Florida to Texas, but that she would keep me updated. Two more weeks passed and nothing. I called again and she said that they were putting a convoy together to leave the following week. The convoy left Florida and arrived here in Texas a full week after. All the time, however, the driver kept checking in giving me updates about their location.
When they got here the service was nice and the movers were friendly. They moved in all the stuff in less than 10 minutes. I just finished checking the stuff and it seems just like I left it. The executive computer chair in which I am writing this is just as uncomfortable as I remember it being. My 3,000 lazy-boy recliners (which I bought for 100$ from a store going out of business) are as comfortable as I remember them. My books are as numerous as I recall. My swords are all nice and shiny, with the exception of the Claymore replica which still has the dent that it got when I used to fight my best friend when he got an Excalibur replica.
All in all, Monti is a reliable, trustworthy, friendly, and overall great company. Although I wish they had been faster about the delivery, they kept me updated fairly often. I give them 8 / 10.
