I moved at the beginning of October 2010. I asked several moving companies to come to my apt. to give me estimates. The Moishes rep showed up over an hour late. What can I say--it should have told me a lot right then and there. In spite of that I still went with them. Because they had a good rep in our area. Or so I THOUGHT!
Movers did not have clear instructions about my move-this slowed up the move & ran up my bill. It also created more work for me to pack. The movers also disappeared at one point for over an hourand a half w/o any explanation to me.
Since I was moving on my own & I had to watch my things-I could not go check on them.Plus I had to keep packing to save money.
Movers were also supposed to set aside a suitcase with my things I had to get by till I unpacked. My medicines and other things to live until I unpacked. The head mover packed it. the box got buried. I could not get at my medications. It cost me over $200 to get critical medications and other needed items after the movers left.
I began to unpack and began to discover damaged items: 2 floor lamps and my televisions. Cable company could not hook up TV because Moishes broke the TV.
I filed a claim. It should have been said and done--and paid. But Moishes has been haggling with me since October about the claim. It is now days before Christmas and they are still haggling with me for damages their movers caused.
They tell me they wont pay for to replace the TV or the lamps because the TV was not worth what it will cost to buy a replacement TV on the market now. They also said they will not pay on my claim till I finish unpacking completely. It is days before Christmas. The point is-they damaged the items-they know it. They should be accountable and pay. They know this. They send me offers for a ridiculous payment.
I am leaving this review because others should know. If you are shopping for a mover--you will be putting your goods in the hands of Moishes and they might damage your goods. If they do--they will haggle with you endlessly on whether or not your goods are worth it. In my case they keep offering me nothing to replace my goods. I would go with a mover that would do the right thing. If they damage something they will pay the fair price to replace it and pay it right away. They wont haggle with you or make you sign away your right to file other claims if you have not finished unpacking and you might find more damages--or possibly worse.
Then as I began to unpack and utility companies started to hook me up--I discovered 2 broken floor lamps and my TV was broken. I asked Moishes to pay for the damages. It is now December. They STILL HAVE NOT paid on the claim. Instead they have gone back and forth with me with letters and phone calls debating on why my stuff does not deserve to be reimbursed for what they should pay to replace it. They offered barely anything to replace the TV & the lamps. I have not even finished unpacking. They now say they wont pay on the claims until I finish unpacking. Which is ridiculous! They damaged the items--they KNOW IT--they should pay the claim for what it will cost me to get a new TV and lamps. And if --when I finally finish unpacking I find more damaged items--they should pay on those too. But just because they pay on a claim and I have not unpacked the rest--does not excuse them from other possible damages I might find. Or the fact that they should pay on
the damages I have now that they definitely have caused. They are trying to get out of being accountable--by avoiding payment on the claim and by being difficult.
IS THIS REALLLLLY A MOVING COMPANY YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH? I suggest you DO NOT want to--because they have NOT been professional and their customer service is terrible. It is now days before Christmas and I still do not have this resolved. I have spoken to 2 Operations managers with Moishes in NJ and a customer service person there. As well as their Office operator. I sent them letters, all with US PS Confirmations and Certified. They responded sending me letters back addressed to my wrong address and even my wrong name. Offering me reimbursement for my TV based on a TV they found on Google weeks later that was from some website that was not even a reputable TV/Electronics retailer. In other words --you could not replace my TV for the amount of money they are offering me--on the market today. And the amount did not even include the price of the broken lamps. So what do you think they will do with your stuff when they break it? And how much do you want
to haggle and fight with them after THEY DO!!!
