HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Went thru a house fire so all our belongings were in storage, most already boxed. We are not kids, never had so much loss in a move & were offered $132.00 by their insurance company. Rate was based on cubic foot, on the day of the move would not start to load until given a $300.00 tip. Then when the truck was loaded informed us that we would have to pay an additional $2300.00, even though we didn't exceed the cubic feet. We were held hostage on the day of our move. Were told that our belongings would NOT leave the truck. Due to a delivery date change, Sat. to Mon. they off loaded our items without our knowledge. My husbands brand new chest waders that were purchased on sale for $169.00 3 weeks before move did not make it along with his fishing poles among many other items. We believe they were stolen. The truck was in an accident by exit 1 of the NJ Tpk. Our delivery was delayed, were told minimum damage. One repacked box with camping items in it had pieces of wood from the inside of the truck in it. The driver that delivered was the one from the accident. Told us he fell asleep behind the wheel, I asked him why did you drive if so tired. He said dispatcher made him & he wasn't supposed to talk about it. Rained on the delivery date, items going again into storage as we were still house hunting. Every time rain started the guys jumped into their truck & didn't care if our items got wet. The delivery guys tried to give us 2 HDTV's that were not ours, too bad we are so honest. Mirit Great American has never responded to us, obviously they don't care about customer service. Find friends that moved & get their advice on movers. Better yet use moving pods. Again first & last time to use "professional" movers and I use the term professional lightly.
