I just moved Tuesday, Jan 19, 2010 and it was an experience that I never want to go through again. As one person wrote about METRO VAN LINES, their actions and the way they do business is borderline criminal. I hired this company because the sales person was very nice AT FIRST. Understand, I only moved less than 15 miles away and I moved out of a 2 bedroom apartment with a small amount of furniture. The quote I got was around $395. That covered 3 men, 1 hour of travel, and 4 hours to do the job. I ended of paying $1252.00 and that was with a 5% military discount. Where this company rips people off is the extra charges for packing material.. The packing material alone cost $725 and all I had was 2 queen size beds, one small dining room table/ 4 chairs that my wife could carry. A small coffee table, a TV Stand, 1 Dresser, 1 chair, 1 sofa, 1 TV and a small toy box... All the boxes that packed were already taped and ready... They used 18 rolls of tape and that cost $81. The fuel charge was $182... I was outraged and I voiced my unhappiness to the foreman and he words to me were, " NO ONE PUT A GUN TO MY HEAD". Lastly, after they delivered our stuff to the new place, they left all the trash that they used to pack our stuff in a huge trash ball and left it sit in our garage... They said they would charge us $50 for them to all it away... LOL... Do yourself a favor, STAY AWAY from these clowns.. Oh, and I did contact the manager and all she said was "SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY"..... STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY..
