On Fri. June 3, 2011, Metro Van Lines first arrived to my apartment stating they couldn't find the loading dock. I told them exactly where the dock was, but then the driver stated to me on the phone "Good luck with your move. Have a nice day." then hung up. I immediately called the company to complain, only to be spoken to by a very nasty and unprofessional woman who would not give me her name. I sent my family member downstairs to the dock, and when my family memeber went down to meet them before they left, they were making a U-turn IN THE LOADING DOCK so they could leave. Originally, I was told by the company my total move cost would be $365. I put a down payment over the phone with my credit card of $73 which is equal to one hours work, then I was left with a balance of $292. I received an email and telephone confirmation of this amount. I even called two days later to confirm the price of $292. After my cousin met the movers at the loading dock, the movers came into my apartment and stated some items needed to be wrapped, such as the sofa and love seat, mattresses, etc. I started signing some papers with him and then he told me my NEW total was roughly $987. Immediately I stated I could not afford to pay that and to please get someone on the phone at the company so I can speak with them about this outrageous amount. He then called the company and told them I wanted to cancel. I told him I NEVER said I was cancelling, I only wanted clarification on the amount he was quoting me and I wanted to talk about the amount I was told I had to pay, which was $292. The mover then told me again to "have a nice day" then walked out. I followed him down the hall trying to figure out what was going on, trying to understand why they were leaving, and demanding the papers back that had my signature. He refused to give me my papers, but we took the papers out his hand and we had to call the police because he refused to give me the carbon copy of my credit card. When I got back inside, I checked my bank account and they had ALREADY charged my credit card $300. I called the company and they stated they charged me a cancellation fee, when I never cancelled, then the woman hung up on me. After several calls by myself and my family, they were also hung up on as well. I am currently disputing this charge with my credit union.
