Metro Van Lines

So, I will start by saying the moving team I was sent were fabulous, got the job quickly. However, I had originally booked with "zen moving company," when they got there they had "Metro van lines" information. My original quote was 440, I was told that materials would be extra, which i expected.
What i did NOT expect was as follows:
1. I was told that the movers would arrive between 9 and 10am. At 10:30, I call to inquire when they would be there. I could not get anyone on the phone. It took me about a half hour to actually reach someone. Was told they had the wrong address in the system, it was corrected, they would be right there. 11:30 I call back... where are the movers? They aren't there yet? Let me call them and find out. 12:30... movers finally show up.
2. I was NOT told stairs were additional, even though I had said I lived on the 3rd floor. Now, the contract says if more than 8 stairs, there is a flat fee of $75. What I was told instead was it was $75 per 8 stairs, so for the third floor, its an additional $300.
3. I was NOT told that there were "crate" fees for items that other movers had been able to move with no extra charges, like a china cabinet that they wanted an additional $200 to crate and then move. I had removed the shelves and glass doors myself and packed them up, but they still would not move it without the $200 Crate fee. I told them no, I would figure something out (still trying to figure something out).
4. Foreman of job said it was all on my confirmation email, however, I never GOT a confirmation email, so the first time I saw this was when they were already moving my stuff.
5. a lot of the stuff for things they DID move (couch, entertainment center) got left at the apartment, things like cushions, materials to put it back together, etc.
6. my $440 quote to move 10 minutes away wound up $978, mostly because of the $75 for 8 steps which they refused to budge on. However, cause their policy that i DID get in email says if you cancel its $100 or 60% of the quote, which would have been $264, and then a long legal battle to get it and my deposit back, what choice did we have.
I would recommend the movers themselves, I would NOT recommend the company with a bait and switch costs and duress. Seeing some of the other quotes, we got lucky, but it should not cost almost 1000 to move 6 pieces of furniture, 15 boxes 10 miles away.
