CON’s
• Movers arrived one hour and half late – On your email below you mentioned that the movers will arrive between 7am-8am. They showed up at 9: 30am. When signing the contract, I made clear to the customer rep that the building elevator was reserved from 8am-11am. And that after 11am, it was reserved by another resident.
• One of the movers was drunk (the smell of alcohol was unbearable). In the 1 hour & ½ at my apartment, he went to the bathroom 4 times???!! he seemed tired and did not work much during the move out which was very frustrating because there was only 1 guy doing all the work (this was a crew of 4 plus the driver). I asked the drunk mover, a couple of times, to please work and move faster, but no luck… he kept procrastinating and “hanging around my apartment”. Even the other 2 movers waiting outside with the truck were complaining about how long they were taking to move things out.
• Since the crew arrived very late, they were not able to take all my belongings out of the apartment. They left 1 sofa, my baby crib, baby mattress, the 2 TVs sets, one lounge chair and many boxes inside the apartment.
• With the exemption of the baby crib, we had disassemble all beds, dining room table, etc for easy move out. When asked the lead mover to disassemble the baby crib, he said that this would take too much time and since they were running out of time (elevator), he opted not to. It took my husband less than 15 minutes to dissemble the crib.
• Moving blankets – I never saw one
• The truck was too small - or your crew did not know how to maximize space. They left a couple of items on the loading dock; unsupervised. I asked the lead mover if they would came back to pick the rest up, and he said no. My husband and I had to rent a U-haul truck and hire one man to move the items that were left on the loading zone and inside the apartment.
PRO’s
• Polite
To sum up, we were extremely disappointed with the lack of punctuality and service. I expected a complete job from Metro Van Lines, and their crew was not able to do this. We had to spend an additional $150 to rent the U-haul and hire one person to help us moving the items left behind by Metro Van Lines.
I spoke to Amanda Martinez at Metro Van Lines and ask to compensate us for the poor and incomplete moving service. She said that the company had paid the movers already, and that there was anything Metro Van Lines could do at this point. She did offer some sort of discount on my next move (seriously???!!)
If you are looking for a professional and honest moving company, I recommend not hiring Metro Van Lines.
