DO NOT USE METRO VAN LINES MOVING COMPANY!!!!
I contacted Metro Van Lines for a short move within the city of Bowie, MD, approximately 9 miles. Metro Van Lines called the day of the move and stated that their truck had broken down and wanted me to reschedule for the next day, which they did. There was no reduction in the fee due to their delay in providing the contracted services.
The estimate was for $276.00, however the estimate did not include the $20.00 paperwork fee, the 15% additional for gas, or the fact that they billed an additional 3% if you use a credit card. The first thing they made you do was waive THEIR own estimate in writing. I new that was a bad sign.
Metro Van Lines showed up with one supervisor and two employees who did not speak English! They were in a truck from a different moving company that they had leased!
The minimum charge is for FOUR hours. I must admit that the two employees worked hard, for little guys, but at the end of the THIRD hour, with one hour remaining on the clock they were done. I wanted them to assemble one bed. The supervisor tells me that I would have to tip the two employees and maybe they would do it!
The contract with Metro Van Lines states:
"The price includes the following services:
Loading , Unloading , Packing Services , Pick up and Delivery , Disassemble , Reassemble. Tools, Truck, Taxes, Second Stop, Long carry . . . ."
Although they were still "on the clock", I had to pay the two employees $40.00 cash ($20.00 each) to assemble the one bed. The supervisor went outside and sat in the truck while the two employees worked!
I called to complain and got the run around.
However, needless to say, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and subsequently learned that they have a "F"ailing rating.
STAY AWAY FROM METRO VAN LINES!!!!!!
