DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! First of all, the estimate I was given by Jay in the office was way off. When the movers arrived at my house, they told me my items took up twice the space on the truck, even though my items were exactly as listed on the quote, minus a few items that I had originally gotten a quote for. I was quoted $1200 and they wanted to charge me $2400, plus $150 for furniture packing which I did not expect. They should add that in the estimate when you originally request one. If a person has a mattress and it needs to be wrapped, add it in. So the movers show up and pick up my stuff and take it away and then that very same day, while I was still in Rhode Island, in the very same town where Merit Van Lines is located (Clifton, New Jersey), two fraudulent charges were made to the credit card I paid the movers with. Coincidence??? I doubt it. So basically, Merit screwed me and stole my credit card. And when Jay from the office said he would call me back, he never did. So TERRIBLE customer service too. I did some research before hiring this company, and I don't know what happened there, but I want to make sure no one makes the same mistake I did. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HIRE THIS MOVING COMPANY. They're a bunch of crooks.
