Deceptive Customer Service

Submitted this review about Mars Van Lines
Review made Live: 8/4/2007 3:18:00 PM
Origin: Atlanta My move was overall an okay one (no furniture was damaged), however the company cleverly failed to inform me of fees I would be charged until AFTER all of my furniture had been loaded onto truck. I had specifically asked Tom Lanford (the Cost Manager) if I would need to wrap up my matresses or any of my furniture. His reply was, "No, don't worry about it. We will take care of all of that." Mind you, he NEVER said "for an additional cost". So , conveniently once the movers had FINISHED packing my furniture in the truck they chose to mention the $44 dollars I HAD to pay for the mattress boxes. Destination: N. Carolina The driver calls me on the evening prior to my furniture arriving to tell me that he would arrive PROMPTLY at 7 am the next morning (mind you I had not officially began living in my new residence, so I had to wake up and drive across town from temporary residence). 7:30 am rolls around. No driver. I call him and get his voicemail. 8 am rolls around, still no driver. After leaving several messages, I finally reach him at 9:30 am and he tells me he won't make it to my apt until 11:30am. I can understand delays, but I can't understand failing to inform your PAYING customer, especially when you are more than 4 hours late! Rude and very inconsiderate. The driver/movers were friendly once they finally arrived, but after they were done, they just left the huge pile of boxes and plastic wrap in the front of my complex.
