Dont EVER use Manchester Vanlines!!
My wife and I are shocked and dismayed at the overall services we received from Manchester Vanlines. We hired them for our move from Walnut CA, to Spokane Wa.. On pickup day the company failed to protect rims they were hired to move, and proceeded to drop and scrape our WRX STI rims- once on the driveway and then off the back of the lift gate followed by a rude employee, who informed us that if we wanted our rims to transport safely we should take them in our car ourselves. we sent Manchester Vanlines photos of the damage and their response was "The pictures of the rims does not reflect substantial/apparent damage to the rims."
On the signed agreement we paid a $938 upcharge specifically for
-Entire truck & 1450 cubic feet for your use only - this was not met at all- when the truck arrived the truck was packed full of another families items along with ours. It appears that our dedicated truck space remaining was sold to another family.
* Trained, professional movers, packers and drivers- The foreman and one of the unloading staff started arguing, and cursing in our kitchen, then progressed into violent shoving. My wife went to see what was going on and was caught in the middle of this shoving match in our house. The laborer continued to curse in Spanish and tell us this is Bullsh*t, the foreman was an idiot, and being vulgar, he declared that he "quit" and for the rest of the day, he sat in the truck up the street glaring at us. My wife was very distraught and we felt our house/family might have in danger if these employees had returned to continue the aggression in our house.
Upcharge for Shipment "3 day express" delivery of Friday 8/1 was not met at all, there was NO communication that there was going to be a delay, the shipment was picked up Tuesday and we sat waiting at home Friday for the truck, there was NO communication or updates from anyone until Saturday night when the driver called to inform us he was going to be there at 7am Sunday. He did not arrive until 10am Sunday, when the delivery was finished in the late afternoon my wife and I only had a few hours to unpack as much as possible to be ready for work this morning. During this delay my wife and I resorted to sleeping on the floor of our house, purchased temporary provisions, living out of a cooler for food. I had expensive tropical reef fish and coral that was dependent on the shipment arriving with all of my water processing equipment. Due to the shipment being delayed 2 days and a lack of communication about the delay I have lost over $400 worth of fish & coral that I have had for over 5 years. I also resorted to borrowing a neighbors refrigerator so my frozen fish food would not go rancid.
I lost my Flame Hawk, Scopas tang, inverts, and frags I bought as my last piece of the reef from 6 years of reefing.
We are astounded that we paid so much for this door-to-door service,
This is both an embarrassing and disappointing situation, charging our family an additional $938 for these services and blatantly not providing either is unethical and caused a large domino effect. There has been immeasurable emotional distress of having our moving company involve my wife in violence and arguing in our household. This was our first move, we had several other moving estimates provided by recommended movers via our company move coordinator but chose Manchester Vanlines because of the reputation Colin spoke so highly of, the positive reviews from the BBB, and other social media. We asked Manchester Vanlines to make this right by at least repairing the damaged goods from the shipment, refunding the money for the expedited shipping and dedicated truck clause, and restoring our lost livestock. They responded by offering $614 on over $2,000 of damages on our claim. Shame on them-
