After reading so many horror stories on the internet about people's moves, I was very nervous. I spent many, many hours researching and talking to moving companies. Manchester Vanlines was the only company that was willing to actually come to my apartment and give me a solid quote. All other companies would only give me an estimate based on the information I gave them. Since I do not have any experience at this, I was fearful of being wrong. From what I understand, after the company has packed your things into their truck, they can tell you that your things weigh more or take more room than the original estimate. Then you are obligated to pay the difference.
But Manchester stuck to their original quote. And the representative was very close. He knew what he was doing.
When my 'stuff' was on its way to North Carolina, the driver called me everyday to let me know his progress. Although he estimated my things would arrive on Monday or Tuesday, they actually came on Wednesday. I was able to be flexible, although if they had not arrived that day, I would have had a big problem (I was leaving town Thursday morning).
My only beef is that one of my boxes had 'Please keep this side up' and I had drawn arrows on the box to point to the top. When the box was delivered, it was upside down. I don't know if it was like that the whole trip, or was turned over when unloaded off the truck. It is a DVD recorder and I understand they can be damaged by sitting upside down. I will have to test it to make sure if it is okay.
Other than that, I was VERY happy when I determined that everything had arrived and all boxes looked in good shape. I would call this company again if I were to decide to move again.
