Like all the stories above the beginning of the move went fine! I originally contacted US Van Lines. I was originally quoted around $2100 for the move from NH to MO for a small apartment. They subcontracted Infinity Moving. Pick up was right on time. The men were friendly and wrapped everything very well. I packed very thing myself however there were a few odd and end stuff I thought they would just tape up and put on the truck. I later found out they had back some stuff up with out my knowledge or without consulting me for me that I would later be charged for. Anyways. I was going through the paper work and the article about tipping was on there and there was another article on charges for stairs and distance. I was in a rare situation where I was moving but I hadn't found an apartment yet. So I really had not idea the situation on the other end. I told them this but they made sign anyways. At the end one of the works said that they were all done and asked for the tip. I was taken back that he flat out asked for it but I have him and his men a good amount. When I came back up to may apartment I found backing debris all over the floor. I had just given them a 100+ dollar tip and I was forced to pick up after them. When I originally called in my order I forget a few items I needed to put on the truck this would be a very costly mistake on my part. They called me with the quote and said it was going to be around 3200! Around 1000 more dollars than quoted. I was outraged! It was explained to me how the weight works and I just bit the bullet because I needed to get moved. Got to MO, found a place and called the company. They couldn't make up their mind on the delivery date. Finally gave me a move in date. The day of the move I went down to meet the truck. The man from the company informed me that there would be an additional $225 charge for the Stairs/Distance from the truck. 1st of all my new apartment complex had an elevator which was good because I live on the 5th floor. There are stair in my apartment but what I signed said there would be a $75 charge after so many flights. So there shouldn't have been a charge there. He then tries to confuse me with numbers about the distance of the truck when it was parked not 50 feet from the doors of the apartment. You could use the argument that because I lived on the top floor it was far away but the charge was $75 after 300. The numbers don't add up. I told him this but then he showed me that I had already signed the paper...which is B.S. After all that again I was harassed for a tip which this time I literally had nothing to give after the extra 1000 for the move and the 225. After all that I later found out they scratched my new apartments hard wood floor.
