I am an office manager and responsible for coordinating moves within our company. This move was cross country- NC to CA. I booked the move with The Moving Company (TMC) out of Oakland, FL and they contracted the job over to Infinity (never use a broker, always work directly with the moving company!).
Our original 'binding' estimate was for $4996-. Infinity arrived within the dates they said and after everything was in the truck they gave a new and much higher rate of $8005.20- 73% higher than their 'binding' estimate!
It took over 7 weeks for the load to get delivered. The boxes arrived completely smashed, and furniture arrived broken. One piece of furniture had water damage: mold and a totally warped top. And when they moved the stuff inside, they damaged the hallway walls that now need to be repaired from their carelessness.
When John King was explaining why the cost had jumped so much (wrapping furniture which TMC told us was included with the original estimate) he said 'well you don't go to a restaurant and order a steak and expect surf and turf, now do you?' At least when I order a steak I know what the price is. With Infinity your price will only go up!
My advice? Do. Not. Use.
