I would not recommend Hurricane Movers to anyone. We were quoted a flat rate of 1400 dollars to move a grand piano. At the time, Hurricane was 500 dollars over other bids. We were assured that they were the better company because they had no hidden costs. At the origin end they attempted to charge us for packing the piano another 250 and then upon arrival, they wanted another 75. The movers they hired were not piano movers. They damaged our stairs and broke a window in the house. It was an accident of course but the company refused to fix the broken window or the stairs. The movers did not use a piano skid which is considered standard in moving a piano. Hence, the broken wooden stairs. The window was not covered because the piano was "difficult to move."
Upon unwrapping the piano, it was found severely damaged and the company again refused to cover the costs. We are reporting the incident to the better business bureau. We took before and after photos and the company claims no liability. BE WARNED. The company is one of the worst I have dealt with.
The salespeople at Hurricane were incompetent and rude and changed their story once the delivery had occurred, claiming that they could not predict final charges until the piano arrived. When we decided to hire them, we were told that 1400 dollars was all inclusive and there would be no surprises.
Be VERY careful when using Hurricane. What they tell you is NOT the full price and they are not covered against damage (i.e. did not cover the window, the wood steps and the piano).
