Be Very Careful When Deciding on Mover

Originally, I was very impressed by this moving company. The customer service agent was very helpful and promised that I would get a binding estimate for my services. The problems I had with Hercules were as follows:
- I did get a binding estimate for the move based on the exact item list that was eventually shipped and on a specified weight. Unfortunately, when the truckers picked up and loaded all my items into the truck, they said that actually cubic feet would be used to determine the price (never discussed before), which increased the price by $415. I went through my credit card to try to challenge this and in Hercules' response, they said that their "binding estimate" is never binding. So be careful if they tell you up front that something is binding.
- While I am not sure if this is specific to this mover or others, be aware that there will be additional charges when the movers come to pack things up. While Hercules says they will use blankets, etc for your big items, they do not mention that there will be fees associated with bubble wrap, tape, etc. For your mattress and TV, the movers will tell you that you really need to put those in boxes to protect them from damage (TV box is 17.50, Mattress box is $36). All in all, this cost me $150 for a one bedroom move.
- One of the reason's I chose Hercules was they told me that they would be the only company that would be transporting my stuff. This was however not the case as they actually gave it to another company to deliver.
- Upon delivery, they told me that they had to move my items into a smaller truck to deliver and charged me an additional $350. This was particularly gauling as they had asked me several times in the road would accomodate the bigger truck. So, I check with the city who said it was fine and saw another delivery truck of the same length deliver to my building. However, since they had my items, I was forced to pay.
- Several of my larger items now have scratches on them from the move
- 2 of my boxes were not originally delivered and came a week later
- When I had complaints about the delivery and was trying to find my boxes, it was very difficult to track someone down to help me.
All in all, I would strongly suggest not using this mover.
