I booked this company as I always like to support local business. They presented themselves as a professional moving company, so I felt that I had made the right decision in hiring them. What a mistake!
First of all, they showed up with a UHaul truck, not their own equipment. I was a little taken aback by this, but I figured I would let that one go.
Then, it turns out that they under-estimated the size of the move. Now, we had moved quite a bit more than we had anticipated, so the volume of items to move was less than they were originally led to believe. Even so, all of our stuff would not fit in the truck. Some items had to be left back at our old place, where we were assured that they would go back and pick them up for delivery that evening.
Fast forward to unloading at our new house. A lot of dings and scuffs on the furniture, which seemed excessive. But even worse was the ground in dirt on both of my cream couches, which were apparently used to clean the bottom of the UHaul truck. On top of the dirt, one of my couches was also ripped on the seat. So, not only did we now have serious damage to our furniture, we still didn't have all of our furniture.
We tried to get them to get the rest of our furniture that evening, but after telling us they would handle it the next day (thankfully we didn't have to vacate the old house that day) not the same day as previously agreed, when we went to go meet them at the old house, they showed up with a SUV. There is no way any of the leftover furniture would have fit, let alone make it without further damage. We ended having to wait until the next day to get the remainder of the furniture.
This was 3 months ago. Over the past 3 months, I have tried to get my couch repaired. After 6 weeks, they finally had someone pick up the couch to repair. Another month went by and, after numerous follow ups on when I could expect my couch back, I finally got it. Unfortunately, the fabric used for the repair was the WRONG COLOR. That's right, it looks horrible. The company apparently knew that it did not match, but let it get delivered anyway. So now I have a couch I would be embarrassed to have in my home and 3 months of aggravation just trying to get this issue resolved.
At this point, I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and now I'm looking for file one with the Moving Association. I'm also considering legal action, just on principal alone. This company should not be in business.
